Monitrice Care (Clinical Support at Home, Doula Support in the Hospital)
Blending hands-on clinical care with the emotional support of a doula.
As a Monitrice, I offer labor support at home before transitioning to your planned birth location (hospital or birth center). This role is different from a doula because it allows me to provide limited clinical care during labor at home, such as:
Monitoring fetal heart tones with a handheld Doppler
Tracking maternal vitals (blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
Assessing labor progress to help determine when to transition to your planned birth location
