Meet Your Student Midwife: Honoring the Journey of Homebirth with Heart and Hands-On Care
Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Jessica, and I’m a student midwife offering compassionate, personalized homebirth care under the supervision of my experienced midwife mentor, Selena of Igi Osè-Traditional Birth Services. I’m currently accepting new clients who are looking for a thoughtful, attentive, and grounded presence during one of the most sacred times of their lives: the birth of their baby.
If you're someone who values informed choice, holistic support, and gentle, traditional midwifery care, I would be honored to walk this path with you.
The Calling: From Mental Health & Emergency Medicine to Midwifery
When entering birthwork, I began as a doula while I served my community in various roles—from working as an EMT and mental health counselor to supporting survivors at a domestic violence shelter. I’ve always been drawn to transitional moments in life—the ones that ask us to be brave, vulnerable, and deeply human.
Birthwork and the call to homebirth midwifery care is what guided me to combine both the practicality of medical knowledge with the care of our emotional and spiritual wellbeing, where I now blend science, intuition, and empathy in my role as a student midwife.
What It Means to Work with a Student Midwife
As a student midwife, I am currently in the process of learning the art and science of midwifery through a traditional apprenticeship model—learning hands-on, heart-forward care under the direct supervision of a trusted, experienced midwife. This means when you choose to work with me:
You’ll receive individualized care with extra attention and presence
My mentor midwife is always close by, providing oversight of your care and attending births with me
You get the best of both worlds: the attentiveness of a student and the security of an experienced midwife
We’ll work together collaboratively, always centering your autonomy, comfort, preferences, and intuition
