What I Offer
Specialized Birth Doula, Monitrice Care & Homebirth Midwifery
Allow me to extend to you a warm congratulations on your upcoming birth. This can be an overwhelming time filled with a whirlwind of emotions—joy, excitement, worry, shock, and even fear. It's completely normal to experience any, all, or many other feelings not listed here. There isn’t one right way to feel about pregnancy or birth.

Navigating expectations—whether from medical providers, media, family, or even our own imaginations—can be challenging. My role is to help you cut through the noise, uncover your own values, and support you in achieving a birth that aligns with what matters most to you.
Your upcoming birth is not just another day—it’s a profound transition in your life. You deserve the space, time, and support to explore your options and find what feels right for you.
How I Can Support You:
I offer three distinct types of care, depending on your birth setting and medical needs:
~ Specialized Doula Support (for families with high-risk pregnancies under MFM care)
~ Monitrice Services (for families laboring at home before hospital or birth center transfer)
~ Homebirth Midwifery (for families planning to birth at home) As a Primary Midwife under Supervision for clients of Igi Osè or Ìyá Pittsburgh
Specialized Doula Support
High-Risk Birth Doula Support (Hospital, MFM Care Only)
For families navigating a high-risk pregnancy under Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) care, I provide specialized doula support in the hospital setting.
This Includes:
Emotional, physical, and informational support tailored to complex pregnancies
Advocacy and guidance in navigating medical interventions and hospital policies
A grounding, compassionate presence to help you feel heard and supported
Collaboration with your providers to bridge communication and ensure informed decision-making
Unlike standard hospital doula services, I focus specifically on families who had originally planned for homebirth or are managing a pregnancy that requires additional medical oversight. My role is to provide continuity of care in an unfamiliar setting, ensuring you still have autonomy, respect, and emotional support.
Specialized Doula Support
Note: Traditional hospital-based doula services are no longer part of my practice. This offering is exclusively for families experiencing a high-risk pregnancy under MFM care.
Monitrice Care
Monitrice Care (Clinical Support at Home, Doula Support in the Hospital)
Blending hands-on clinical care with the emotional support of a doula.
As a Monitrice, I offer labor support at home before transitioning to your planned birth location (hospital or birth center). This role is different from a doula because it allows me to provide limited clinical care during labor at home, such as:
Monitoring fetal heart tones with a handheld Doppler
Tracking maternal vitals (blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
Assessing labor progress to help determine when to transition to your planned birth location
What Happens When You Transfer to the Hospital?
Once you decide to head to the hospital, I transition into a doula role—continuing to provide physical, emotional, and informational support, but no longer offering clinical assessments.
Who Is This For?
This option is ideal for families who want more clinical insight while laboring at home but are not planning a homebirth.
Fee for Monitrice Services:
Due to the additional clinical care provided, the fee structure differs from standard doula services.

Homebirth Midwifery with Igi Osè
Homebirth is a deeply personal and empowering choice for families who want to welcome their baby in a familiar, comfortable space, surrounded by trusted support. Midwifery care is centered around the belief that birth is a normal, physiological process—one that flourishes in an environment of trust, safety, and calm.
I currently provide homebirth midwifery care as a Primary Student Midwife Under Supervision through Igi Osè Midwifery. This means all homebirth clients are officially clients of Igi Osè, and my role is to serve as the primary midwife under the direct oversight of my supervising midwife.
If you are interested in having me as your primary midwife, your care will still be overseen by Igi Osè’s traditional midwife, who makes the final decision on my role in your birth.
Collaborating with Ìyá Pittsburgh
Igi Osè Midwifery partners with Ìyá Pittsburgh, a nonprofit working to expand accessible, equitable, and subsidized homebirth care, particularly for BIPOC, Queer, and Trans families. If you’re seeking financial assistance or community-based care, Ìyá Pittsburgh may be able to help.
How to Get Started:
All homebirth clients must go through Igi Osè Midwifery to establish care.
If you’re interested in having me as your primary midwife, we will schedule a joint consultation with my supervising midwife to determine if it’s the right fit.

How to determine your costs
My model is based on “The Green Bottle,” created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. There is so much more to financial privilege than your salary. I also don’t believe in performative poverty rituals if my community needs support I simply believe them as I hope they would believe me. Access to traditional, compassionate, and competent care is the only way to truly begin closing the birth equity gap and reduce pregnancy-related mortality and morbidity. I have modified the original model to better fit what I do and everyone I hope to serve.
Using this system allows pregnant people to tell me where on the pay scale they fall, taking into account their lives and not just their incomes. This is an honor system; I trust that people who want me to provide care and support will take time to read each description and pick the one that reflects their financial picture. If you desire to support my mission that all people should have access to care without cost being a factor please consider a donation, rather than selecting a higher tier, or let me know that the additional fee is for donation and not reflective of your financial picture. Most importantly, please do not select a level that requires a lower financial commitment than matches you. Doing that profoundly impacts my ability to be sustainable and means people who need those lower points of access won’t receive the care they need. My flexibility is only possible when the entire community is honest as they select services. One day I hope that I can serve the community without requiring direct payment. If that is something you also hope for, please share my mission within your circle and ask people to donate.
If you fall between two descriptions, as many people do, please reach out, and let’s create an equitable price. I do my best not to turn people away for financial reasons. I am willing to barter. In lieu of cash payment I will accept gift cards to Giant Eagle, Amazon, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Target. I know these are often given as baby shower gifts, and I am happy to apply them to the cost of midwifery care. If there is another way I can help support your ability to fund care, please reach out through our contact page.
