Getting to Know Me: Beyond the Doula Role

When we first meet, it’s often in the context of birth—discussing pregnancy, labor plans, and all the beautiful, messy, transformative moments that come with bringing a baby into the world. And while I love birthwork with my whole heart, I also believe that who I am outside of birthwork is just as important as what I do.

Because when you invite me into your birth space, you’re not just hiring a doula or a midwife-in-training. You’re inviting a whole person into one of the most intimate and powerful moments of your life. So, I’d love to share a little more about who I am—beyond the birth bag and prenatal visits.

Rooted in Connection, Community, and Creativity

I’ve always been drawn to the liminal spaces of life—the in-between, the transitions, the moments where everything shifts. That’s part of what led me to birthwork, but it also shows up in other ways.

I love storytelling, especially when it’s woven with emotion, depth, and a touch of mystery. Whether it’s diving into a good book, playing narrative-driven video games, collaborative storytelling through table top RPGs, or exploring my own writing, I find joy in the way stories help us understand ourselves and the world around us.

I also have a deep appreciation for tradition and craft—things made with intention, whether that’s a carefully baked loaf of bread, an herbal remedy passed down through generations, or a handmade gift for someone I love. It’s no surprise, then, that I’ve been drawn toward kitchen witchery, herbalism, and the slow, thoughtful magic of making things with my own hands.

And if you’ve ever seen me truly light up in a conversation, there’s a good chance we’re talking about community care. Whether it’s birthwork, advocacy, or simply finding ways to support one another in small, meaningful ways, I believe deeply in building spaces where people feel seen, supported, and held.

Some Small Joys That Fill My Cup

✨ A slow morning with tea and good company (human or canine, I’m not picky)
The way the light filters through the trees just right in the afternoon
Learning new skills that make life feel a little more connected to the past
Watching the seasons shift and finding small ways to celebrate them
Long, meandering conversations that make you feel like you’ve traveled through time
The first bite of something delicious, preferably homemade
Finding ways to bring a little more warmth and comfort into everyday life

Why This Matters in Birthwork

I share all of this because I believe that the best support comes from real connection.

I don’t see birthwork as just a profession—it’s a relationship, a partnership, a space where trust and care matter deeply. And I want my clients to know that I show up fully—not just as a provider, but as a human being who is passionate about holding space, making things a little softer where I can, and honoring the deeply personal journey that each family walks.

If you choose to work with me, you’re not just hiring someone with experience and training—you’re welcoming someone who genuinely cares about you, your story, and the way your birth experience unfolds.

So, whether you’re here because you’re looking for support in pregnancy, curious about homebirth, or just want to get a feel for who I am, I’m so glad you’re here.

Let’s connect, chat over tea, and see if we’re the right fit. 💜

Reach out today—I’d love to get to know you, too!
